1. Lake Bled Loop, Slovenia
Distance: 3.7-mile loop
Elevation Gain: Flat
This lake is in the heart of Bled, a picturesque Slovenian mountain town. The flat loop resides along the lakeshore, passing beaches and forestry. This hike is perfect for all running skills!
2. Copper Ridge Loop, Washington
Distance: 34-mile loop
Elevation Gain: 8,600 feet
The trailhead is about 3.5 hours from Seattle. The trail winds 34 miles through dense forest and a lush river valley. There are views of glaciated Mount Shuksan, Mount Baker, and the remote Pickett Range abound. Run through fields of wildflowers with gorgeous views of these summits.
3. The Otter Trail, South Africa
Distance: 26 miles one way
Elevation Gain: 9,737 feet
This trail is located in Garden Route National Park, in a protected area that only allows 12 people to hike the trail a day. The trail passes through diverse terrains that range from forests, waterfalls, rivers, coastlines, and beaches.
4. Wildwood Trail, Portland, Oregon
Distance: 30 miles
Elevation Gain: 2,772 feet
A 30-mile soft-surface trail that runs through Forest Park, the largest urban forest in the United States. Along the way, you’ll run under fir and cedar trees, over streams, and go past unique-looking ferns and fungi.
5. Kalalau Trail, Kauai
Distance: 11 miles
Elevation Gain: 6,177 feet
Run this 11-mile ascent along the Na Pali coastline with majestic cliff views. Multiple stream crossings, lots of mud, and rocky switchbacks will necessitate slowing down, so that’s probably as far as you’ll want to go. Run along the coastline for picturesque views!
